January 2008
Dear ISPNE Members,
On behalf of the Society, I would like to thank Steve Shelton for organizing the XXXVIII Annual Meeting “Setting the Stage for the Future: Psychoneuroendocrinology in the 21st Century” which was held August 19-22, 2007 in Madison, Wisconsin. His efforts were rewarded with an optimum combination of speakers and topics. During the annual meeting, the Society presented the Curt Richter Award, which was given with the continuing support of Elsevier, to Christine Heim for her work on the neuroendocrine consequences of early-life trauma and their relationship to depression. E. Ronald de Kloet was voted the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Service Award recipient was Alan F. Schatzberg.
The beautiful city of Dresden, Germany will host the XXXIX Annual Meeting July 17-20, 2008. This city in the Elbe Valley has been defined as the European crossroads of culture, science and technology, and promises to be an impressive meeting site for the ISPNE community. The meeting will target the interactions of stress, hormones and metabolism and present their restatement towards disease. ISPNE will welcome Isabella Heuser, as she begins her new duties as President of ISPNE.
Please contact Clemens Kirschbaum for additional information on the meeting. I look forward to interacting with members at the meeting and welcoming new faces to the Society.
Sincerely yours,
