Dr. Steven Cole PhD
Main Research Focus
Steven
Cole, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Division of
Hematology-Oncology) and Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA
School of Medicine. He pioneered
the introduction of functional genomic analyses into human biobehavioral
research, and is one of the world’s foremost experts on molecular pathways by
which socioenvironmental factors regulate gene expression in human, viral, and
tumor genomes. His research uses
computational bioinformatics strategies to integrate epidemiologic analyses,
clinical natural history data, animal models, and laboratory molecular analyses
to identify transcription control pathways that mediate social and
environmental influences on the molecular pathogenesis of inflammation,
infectious diseases, and cancer.
